Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel is convinced that Tottenham Hotspur are in contention for the Premier League title because of Antonio Conte.

Tottenham and the Blues are set to face off today in a league game at Stamford Bridge, which has been far from a happy hunting ground for Spurs in recent years.

Both sides started their campaign with three points but will now look to cement their authority at the start of this season with a win over a top team.

Spurs have completed the bulk of their transfer activity for this window, having brought six immediate reinforcements to their ranks. West Londoners, on the other hand, are still chasing targets like Wesley Fofana and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to meet their needs (talkSPORT).

Conte arrived at Spurs with a renowned reputation, having achieved success during his previous spells with Chelsea, Juventus and Inter Milan.

All eyes will be on him in this campaign, especially after Fabio Paratici and Daniel Levy backed him in the transfer market with important additions to the squad.

Ahead of Sunday’s clash, Tuchel was adamant that the North London side were in contention to win the league regardless of the general sentiment about them.

He expects a team led by Conte to pose a real threat to their competitors, especially with the Italian’s impressive record in domestic competitions.

Tuchel told Football.London: “I think every team that Antonio Conte coaches is a title contender. It’s always like that, in every country with every team.

“They have strengthened their squad, they have strengthened their depth and they have a very demanding coach with an incredible record of national titles.

“He will push them to the limit and any team with that kind of quality management, which pushes players to the limit, can outperform and challenge for the top four. And if you’re fighting for the top four, you’re fighting for everything.

“If you are still in the race in March, you are fighting for everything. It’s a long way to go and he’ll never admit it, but for me an Antonio Conte team fights for everything.

It looks like Tuchel is just trying to put pressure on us to make today’s game difficult. Yes, Conte has an incredible record under his belt, looking at how he fared at Inter Milan, Juventus and Bridge. However, the circumstances are very different right now. The likes of Manchester City and Liverpool are the clear favorites as usual and it will be difficult for Spurs to enter that conversation so quickly.
