Here’s how we rated the Tottenham Hotspur players after the first forty-five minutes of action against Liverpool.

Tottenham head into the break against Jurgen Klopp’s side with their backs to the wall but enter the break level at 0-0.

Hugo Lloris : Saved Sessegnon after crossing the goal and managing to win the ball. Did well to beat Diaz’s effort shortly before halftime. 6.

Emerson Royal: Did his best to join Kulusevski on the right. Must do much better defending corners after Van Dijk easily brushed him off to drive against the crossbar. 5.

Christian Romero: Solid in the tackle as always, he came out of jail after playing a loose pass into his own area to win the ball back. Got lucky minutes later with a similar risky ball. 6.

Eric Dier: Defended well in a few desperate situations. 6.

Ben Davis: Was lucky Alexander-Arnold’s effort went high and wide after the Welshman played a silly square ball into his own box. Was made a few loose passes. 5.

Ryan Sessegnon: Played high down the left, defensively was grateful when he decided to kick the ball in goal and had to be bailed out by Lloris. 6.

Rodrigue Bentancur: With the vast majority of the half played in the Spurs area, he spent the 45 minutes shutting down Liverpool players. Must settle his death, a few bad passes. 5.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg: Struggled against the Liverpool midfielder and nearly broke the deadlock to see his shot return from the post. 6.

Dejan Kulusevsky: Tried to break in the right when in possession but had very little support in front of him with the Reds getting plenty of numbers around him. 6.

Heung-min Son: Unable to influence the game in any way, with most of his presence deep within his own half. 6.

Harry Kane: Had his only goal preview blocked by a good challenge from Henderson early on. 6.
