Blockchain and Web 3 accelerator leader Outlier Ventures today announced Des Martin as Chief Marketing Officer and Eser Torun as Chief of Staff.
Based in Ireland, Des Martin joins Brave where he served as Vice President of Growth and Marketing. He grew their daily active users from 800,000 to 11 million, which positioned Brave as one of Web 3’s breakthrough projects. Previously, he led marketing teams at two high-growth tech companies, Perkbox and Qualtrics , during periods of rapid growth. Perkbox has been recognized by both Linkedin’s Top UK Start-Ups and the National Business Awards under his leadership. Martin continues to actively invest in and advise Web 3 companies.
London-based Eser Torun joins Everledger where she most recently served as Chief Growth Officer, during which time she was also recognized as one of Europe’s Most Influential Women in FinTech and one of the Top 10 most influential leaders in wealth management. Previously, she spent eighteen years in investment banking at Barclays and Citibank in senior roles where she more than tripled revenue and customers in her respective business units. Sha was also a member of the Blockchain Innovation Council at Barclays Investment Bank.
“Both Des and Eser have excellent track records of vigorously growing companies in early-stage technology and established capital markets. That, combined with their penchant for innovative tech, means they’re best suited for Outlier’s Accelerator. As we ramp up our investment activities in decentralized Web 3 and technology convergence technologies, we could not have hoped to find more capable leaders to drive growth in this builder market.says Jamie Burke, Founder and CEO of Outlier Ventures.
Jamie added “I strongly believe in the Open Metaverse and the role of crypto as an engine of growth. In early stage companies, I see the opposite of what you see in secondary markets; there are more startups and more funds, with more capital flowing into Web 3 and connecting to our accelerator than ever before.
Martin and Torun’s appointment follows strong recent growth for Outlier with aggressive hiring in the US and London, and talks of further senior hires in the months ahead. Outlier’s support for early-stage Web 3 innovators is also accelerating, with the company onboarding over 130 startups into its accelerator in collaboration with crypto giants such as HBAR Foundation, Protocol Labs, New Order CAD and Polygon. They should accelerate another 100 start-ups by the end of the year.
