Fabio Paratici has revealed that Tottenham are keen on signing Yves Bissouma as he has different skills compared to the midfielders already at the north London club.

Although Bissouma has come on as a substitute in almost every game so far this season, he has only made one start – the 1-1 draw against West Ham United at the London Stadium.

The former Brighton man is currently kept out of Tottenham’s starting XI by Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Rodrigo Bentancur, whose partnership in the middle of the park continues to blossom for the Lilywhites.

Two weeks ago, Antonio Conte praised the Mali international’s qualities but admitted the 26-year-old was ‘a step back’ on Hojbjerg and Bentancur as he is still learning about his role in the Spurs system (Football.London).

However, Paratici is in no doubt that Bissouma will be an asset to Tottenham once he gets used to the team’s style of play.

He said Spurs Television: “Bissouma has different skills from our midfielders. He’s better at one-on-one technically speaking, he can even shoot from a distance.

“He’s a bit different with his skills so he has to come into our mechanism because the team is now very well organised. Super organised. Getting into the team is not easy for the players, it takes a bit time to adapt.

Bissouma is at his best when he has the freedom to carry the ball. However, in Conte’s system, the role of central midfielders is very specific. So the former Brighton man has to learn to speak within the tactical confines of the system, which may take time.
