Euphoria’s Sydney Sweeney Reveals Her Prep For Madame Web

Sydney Sweeney has been caught up in comics in preparation for her next role in Marvel and Sony Pictures Ms Web.

the Euphoria star joins Dakota Johnson (Fifty shades of Grey) in an undisclosed role for the Spider Man spin-off film, directed by SJ Clarkson (Toast).

Talk to Variety about the project, Sweeney revealed that she is currently reading the Marvel comics her character is based on.

“I ordered a bunch of comics,” she said. “There’s a lot to learn. I’ve always been a huge fan of all Marvel and Sony Universe movies.”

She added: “I grew up watching them all and I’ve been engulfed in the whole world my whole life, so to be a part of that is such an amazing, amazing thing.”

Updates on Sweeney’s role in the project come after his casting was announced earlier in March.

According to Marvel Comics, Madame Web is an elderly woman with a long-term neuromuscular disease called “myasthenia gravis”. To survive, she is hooked up to a life support system resembling a spider’s web, hence the nickname Madame Web.

Due to his illness and age, the character does not actively fight any villains. However, it’s likely Johnson’s titular head will channel her powers of clairvoyance for the greater good, given that she’s described as a “psychic powerhouse” and a “mutant.”

Next to Euphoria fame, Sweeney appeared in a dystopian drama The Handmaid’s Tale and satirical anthology series The White Lotus.

The actress will next be seen in National anthem – a film also starring singer Halsey, red rocket star Simon Rex and Sweeney’s Euphoria co-starring Eric Dane.

Euphoria seasons one and two are now available to watch on HBO Max in the US and NOW in the UK.
