BREAKING: Yahoo reaches $15 million verdict for infringing web technology patent

By Bonnie Eslinger (March 29, 2022, 7:55 p.m. EDT) — A federal jury in San Francisco on Tuesday found that Yahoo Inc. infringed on Droplets Inc.’s patented technology to quickly update web pages, saying the giant Silicon Valley Web Services owed the small Texas company $15 million, which was seeking $260 million in damages.

The nine-member jury reached its unanimous decision after about seven hours of deliberation, the day after the three-week trial ended. The five women and four men found that Droplets proved it was more likely than not that Yahoo infringed a claim of the patent at issue with a product – Yahoo Search Assist – but was found against Droplets with. .
